The Christmas Gift

There is a reason for this season,

To be full of joy, blessed we're still breathing,

Giving and receiving gifts,

There's nothing like seeing smiles and other people spirits lift,

Christmas is my favorite holiday next to Thanksgiving,

Because the meaning brings a warm and lovely feeling,

I remember staring under the tree,

Wondering and anticipating what was wrapped for me,

Ready to open and receive, I'd stay up to 12 o'clock on Christmas Eve,

As a kid I used to wait for Santa, but never seen him come,

Then as I got older, I understood it was all about the One,

A birthday, Jesus Christ earth day,

A King who's worth praise, that suffered for all in the worse way,

Making this day so worth it in the first place,

For us His cause was righteous,

And what He did was priceless,

Guaranteed we'll never see love or a life given freely like His,

I'm thankful for every gift I receive whether big or small,

But realize Jesus Christ coming was the greatest gift of all...
