My Love for Music

If it wasn’t for music, I don’t know what I’d do or be doing honestly! It’s the only thing I have to do in here to keep me sane and occupied in this environment. It’s a way to express myself and the way I feel. Writing music for me is therapeutic, because it help ease my mind off a lot of things that get to me that I wish I could change, but can’t! Being in prison is still a harsh reality I struggle facing everyday, longing for my freedom and another chance at life!
Music has always been a big influence to me and I’ve been writing since the age of 13. Rap was all I knew, but since I’ve been incarcerated, I’ve learned and taught myself how to write all kinds of music from rap, R&B, pop, rock, country and Christian. In my heart I really felt like I would’ve made it and feel robbed of my dreams! But lately, I’ve been focused on Christian music and doing it for the Lord in hopes of helping someone instead of misleading them. If my music could help and get through to someone, I’d be happy with that knowing it served its purpose. However, I still wrestle between writing secular and worldly music vs. Godly music. It’s like a gift and a curse because I know how to do both well, but Lord knows all I wanna do is the right thing and be successful!
In the world I went by the name of Slug-C, aka Dollars & Cents because I hustled and was spitting rhymes trying to make it at that time. Everybody that knew me called me Slug, but as a new man, I now go by the name Saint Clyde! That name was given to me by a friend in prison who did music as well that I inspired to get out and stay out when he paroled home. I was taught to never give up, or stop dreaming and Lord willing, He’ll bless what I’m now doing for Him.
